Customize Your Vision with RxSight LAL – Exclusively Available with Dr. Kerry Solomon

Dr. Kerry Solomon continues to make breakthroughs in transformative cataract technology. As of the new year, Dr. Solomon is among the very few ophthalmologists in the country, and the only one in South Carolina, offering the first ever Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) from RxSIGHT. This new artificial lens is the only artificial lens that can be adjusted to correct vision after it is implanted during cataract surgery. He successfully completed the very first FDA approved surgery in the state of South Carolina this past month, and is now offering the lens and procedure to patients at his practice.

How it Works

First, the RxSIGHT LAL is implanted in the eye when a patient receives laser cataract surgery. Once the eyes have healed over the span of two or three weeks, the patient’s vision is then adjusted by a series of office-based light treatment procedures that only take a few minutes each. During these procedures, the vision is corrected with the Light Delivery Device (LDD) in order to modify the shape of the lens, which alters your vision. The lens can be modified two to four times for optimal results, but not every patient will require the same amount of adjustments.

Because the lens can be altered by natural UV rays, it is imperative that the patient wears protective UV glasses for the following 24 hours after each adjustment until the lens is fixed in its final state. These protective glasses eliminate the chance of the lens being exposed to UV rays, and ultimately locking the current vision in place outside of LDD treatments.

Unique Features of the RxSIGHT LAL

Because it is difficult for ophthalmologists to predict how your eyes will heal before cataract surgery, the RxSIGHT LAL allows for patients to preview and adjust their  vision after the surgery until it meets their desired needs. Since the RxSIGHT LAL is the only customizable lens that can be adjusted after surgery, it makes it that much more significant and desirable to patients.

Dr. Kerry Solomon stated that being able to “truly personalize a patient’s vision gives them a superior outcome.”

Dr. Kerry Solomon’s continued commitment to ophthalmology research and offering state-of-the-art vision solutions with LASIK and cataract surgeries shows his passionate dedication to his profession, but most importantly, to his patients.
