A New Way to Look at LASIK

Most of us cringe at the mention of having surgery and when it comes to eye surgery, it’s even a bit scarier. LASIK surgery – reshaping the cornea to improve visual focus – may be a tough consideration for many people – they want the benefit of better eyesight but are nervous about the procedure. That’s where putting an “i” in LASIK can make a big difference. All LASIK procedures begin with creating a flap on the surface of the cornea, followed by a laser treatment under the flap. Most people are familiar with the procedure in which a hand-held device with a blade is used to create the flap. The iLASIK procedure uses 3-D mapping and a computer-guided laser, which is 100 times more accurate than using a blade. We have more control when creating a corneal flap for the eye. The entire procedure takes just minutes. With this kind of laser technology, it makes people with nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism rethinking their perceptions of LASIK surgery and ditching their glasses and contacts. Have you considered LASIK surgery? What are your concerns?
