Tips on Preventing Eye Strain

If you spend a lot of time staring at a computer screen, you may experience eye strain. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) offers these recommendations for preventing computer induced eye strain:

  • Minimize glare.
  • Schedule frequent breaks.
  • Keep the screen clean.
  • Position the monitor slightly further away than you hold reading materials.
  • Keep reference material close by to minimize focus changes.

Eye strain could be caused by a more significant vision problem. If you spend hours in front of a computer and you have cataracts you have may another option.
