DSLT Comes to South Carolina

Carolina Eyecare Physicians is the first institution to offer the DSLT procedure in South Carolina. Dr Kerry Solomon performed his first DSLT procedure on January 9, 2025. DSLT stands for Direct Select Laser Trabeculoplasty which is a vision procedure primarily used to treat glaucoma, a condition characterized by increased intraocular pressure that can lead to vision loss. This laser treatment aims to improve the drainage of fluid from the eye, thereby reducing intraocular pressure. During the procedure, a laser is applied to the trabecular meshwork, the tissue responsible for draining fluid from the eye. By targeting this area, DSLT enhances the outflow of aqueous humor, which can help stabilize or lower eye pressure. This is particularly beneficial for individuals who may not respond well to medication or for those seeking an alternative to traditional surgical options. DSLT can help preserve vision and improve the quality of life for individuals with glaucoma by effectively managing their condition. If you have specific questions about this procedure, contact Team Solomon at (843) 203-9848 or by filling out an online contact form today!
