(Charleston, SC – April 11, 2022) – Kerry Solomon, an ophthalmologist at Carolina Eyecare Physicians, has been named to the 2022 list of “Top Doctors” by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd.

Castle Connolly connects patients with best-in-class healthcare, providing consumers with trusted lists of exceptional medical professionals. A peer-driven nomination process is followed up with rigorous research, vetting, and selection.

Out of 850,000 practicing doctors in the United States, only 7% qualify as Castle Connolly Top Doctors.

Kerry Solomon, MD, is a cataract, LASIK and advanced vision correction specialist at Carolina Eyecare Physicians, which he joined in 2009. He is also the director of the Carolina Eyecare Research Institute, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina, and is the former President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at US Eye, a patient-centric network of premium eye care practices.

Over his 24 years of practicing medicine, Dr. Solomon has achieved status among the country’s best ophthalmic surgeons. He was one of the first in the country to perform laser-assisted cataract surgery, implant multifocal and astigmatic correcting lenses, and to perform topography-guided LASIK. He has been voted Charleston’s Best LASIK Surgeon by the local community 18 times in the last eight years.

Castle Connolly has been researching, reviewing, and selecting Top Doctors for 25 years. The process is unbiased, and begins with nominations from fellow physicians. Doctors who earn a place on the list embody excellence in clinical care as well as interpersonal skills such as listening and communicating, demonstrating empathy, and instilling trust and confidence in patients.

The physician-led Castle Connolly research team verifies credentials of nominated physicians and reviews their competencies including medical education, training, hospital appointments, administrative posts, professional achievements, and malpractice and disciplinary history.
